Wine and Food Tour

   


Length 4 days/3 nights


First day:
Arrival of the group by bus in a agricultural farm in Sorrento. Guided visit of the typical lemon orchard, demonstration of the limoncello liqueur production, arrangement of tables and benches in the lemon orchard paths, or in a rural hall where are prepared some trays with tomatoes salads, mozzarella cheese (string shape), seasoned cheese (caciocavallo), salami, handmade bread with extra virgin olive oil, in oils, wine, babà made with the lemon liqueur, handmade dessert and digestives. In the afternoon free time for a walk in the Sorrento characteristic streets. Late in the afternoon transfer by bus in Paestum (Sa) in three stars hotel and arrangement in the rooms, dinner and overnight stay.

Second day:
Breakfast. Transfer for the guided visit in the archaeological area of Paestum that, with its three impressive Doric temples represents the most important evidence of the incomparable heritage left by Greek culture. Guided visit of the National Museum. Transfer in a biological agricultural farm for a guided visit, where it will be possible to see the buffaloes breeding, the modern milking system, the equipment for the yogurt processing, the mozzarella production and the final tasting of a bocconcino. Guided tour of the Firm Museum. Lunch will be served in a private villa of the ‘ 700 (main course: crespelle with fresh cheese and spinaches, mozzarella cheese and fresh cheese; tomatoes salad; salad; yogurt of the firm; handmade bread; rural bread; white wine; mineral water; ice cream/coffee/cappuccino). In the afternoon transfer in Salerno and guided visit of the town with its wonderful historical centre and of the Cathedral. When the shops will open there will be a shopping walk. Late in the afternoon return in hotel, dinner and overnight stay. After dinner the group will watch a show the “Tammurriata”, one of the highest musical and social expression of the Campania folk tradition. This is a dance, a song, a sound… an emotion that will give the chance to know the story and the sonority with specialized and skilled artists that work with many schools. After the first sounds and notes it will be very difficult not to move foot as the Cilentani do, and not to be involved in dancing and creating the same atmosphere of the old style peasant festival.

Third day:
Breakfast. Transfer in the close Agropoli for the guided visit of a wine-growing and producing farm and stop in the rural cottage situated inside the vineyard and tasting of white and red wines with buffet/lunch. In the afternoon guided visit of Agropoli , the little town situated at the entrance of the Cilento National Park, characterised by its historical centre vertically on the sea, in which it is possible to enter through its monumental door of entrance. Agropoli, with its Castle, dominates from the top. This little town, in which recently have been found some graves dated before the Byzantine period, also presents some medieval ruins of the Saint Francesco Monastery, the church of S. Maria di Costantinopoli of XVII century, the tower of S. Marco, the tower of S. Francesco and those of Tresino e Pagliarulo, well preserved. The port, the famous beach of the Trentova Bay, with its rock, the wonderful seafront, make this little town an important seaside centre. During the visit there will be the tasting of an ice cream. Dinner in pizzeria in Agropoli. Return in hotel and overnight stay.

Forth day:
Breakfast. Transfer in San Mauro Cilento. Guided visit of an agricultural farm (with oil press) to know the biological production process (pressing – bottling – use of the acidimetro – brief tasting lesson). Advices on the Mediterranean diet. Lunch based on biological products in the oil press restaurant. Return to places of origin.
